HASTINGS COOLANT SYSTEM PROTECTION | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Hastings Filters, Inc. has the right protection for your cooling system. Cooling system protection is vital to the life of today’s heavy duty diesel engines. Hastings Filters’ balanced treatment for ethylene glycol is a borate/nitrite-based inhibitor system. This formulation can only be used with 30 to 60 percent antifreeze solutions. Used in the proper concentration, our Cooling System Treatment (CST) CS100 and CS105 will provide superior protection against cavitation erosion, corrosion, scale and foaming. Independent lab tests show our CST to have the lowest total dissolved solids, the best corrosion resistance and cavitation erosion protection equal to or better than any product on the market today. Lower total dissolved solids means fewer water pump leaks when our CST is used as recommended. Cavitation erosion protection means superior defense against liner pitting. Combustion gases and atmospheric conditions can lead to corroded aluminum, copper, solder, brass and cast iron components. Our CST has an advanced chemical system to provide corrosion resistance to protect these vital engine components.
Hastings’ CST is compatible with Nalcool 2000, 3000, Need Release, DCA2 and DCA4. Hastings Filters recommends the use of our CST with 30 to 60 percent ethylene and/or propylene glycol low silicate antifreeze. A well maintained system will provide 2 years, or 200,000 to 250,000 miles of service. |
We recommend the cooling system be tested at least twice a year and preferably at every service interval. Because testing is so important, Hastings Filters, Inc. offers the CT100 Test Kit to measure the level of nitrites in the coolant. If you have any questions on your cooling system, please contact the Service Engineering Department at Hastings Filters, Inc. Add one pint (4 Units) of Hastings Cooling System Treatment for every 4 gallons of cooling system capacity for pre-charge. The following table illustrates the proper combination of liquid and coolant filters to be used to pre-charge your cooling system.
Add one pint (4 units) of Cooling System Treatment for every 20 gallons for 15,000 miles (375 hours) maintenance and two pints (8 Units) for every 20 gallons for 25,000 miles (625 Hours) maintenance. The following table illustrates the proper combination of liquid and coolant filters to be used to treat your cooling system.
